Welcome note
Croatian Chemistry Student Symposium is a one-day scientific meeting that brings together chemistry students and encourages them to collaborate, communicate and share their experiences. For students who are actively involved in scientific research in the field of chemistry, the Symposium provides an opportunity to present the results of their work to their colleagues under the slogan "students for students". A wonderful and praiseworthy idea that arose from the desire of young chemistry enthusiasts to gather chemistry students from the whole country and have them interact and learn from each other was first realized in 2014 when the First Croatian Chemistry Student Symposium was held. In the following years the Symposium continued to be held and has become a traditional event of the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb. This initiative has proven to be extremely successful as evidenced by the increasing number of interested participants. More than 800 chemistry students from Zagreb, Split, Osijek, Rijeka, Novi Sad, Zurich and Berlin have participated in the last five Symposiums. In addition, Croatian Chemistry Student Symposium has been recognized as a valuable project by the University of Zagreb, and as such was awarded the Rector’s Award for community service work in the academic and wider community. Throughout the years, the Symposium has hosted a number of outstanding scientists and prominent figures in the industry, who, through plenary lectures, provided students with valuable advices on building their future careers and presented them with a world of industry and science.
It is my great honor to invite you on behalf of the Organizing Committee to the 6th Croatian Chemistry Student Symposium, which will be held on the 26th of October 2019 at the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb. Students who are actively engaged in scientific research in the field of chemistry are welcome to present the results of their work through oral presentations or poster presentations, while everyone else is invited to grace the Symposium with their presence.
